Development Mystery!

INVESTING IN THE FUND

The heart of our work is to offer community-minded investors a practical way to help their neighbors and communities. Individuals, financial institutions, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations invest through donations or loans to the Community Loan Fund so that it in turn can make low-cost flexible loans to those who are unable to access credit. In this way, the Community Loan Fund provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to participate as part of a lasting solution to poverty.

The Community Loan Fund offers the investor an opportunity to:

Invest locally, in a socially responsible way and see tangible results.

Be part of the solution to existing problems.

Provide affordable housing and decent jobs, and quality social services.

Act on religious, political or philosophical convictions.

See their funds used again and again to create a renewable resource for our community.

How Can I Participate?

You can participate in one two ways, which are donating or making a loan to the Community Loan Fund.

If you choose to donate, your tax deductible donation my either be made unrestricted or offered to our lending pool which is extremely helpful and will benefit the community far into the future.

If making a loan, you choose the amount, rate and term of your investment. Investments range from $1,000 to $500,000 and with interest rates of 0% to 2.5%. The lower the interest rate and the longer the term, the better for the Community Loan Fund and our borrowers.

Will My Money Be Safe?

The Community Loan Fund has a 100% repayment rate to its lenders. We carefully evaluates each loan application and makes loans that are socially worthwhile and financially sound. Loans to the Community Loan Fund are not insured, but security derives from technical assistance, loan loss reserve, loan monitoring, personal relations, and a shared sense of commitment by all parties.

Loans are unsecured. A simple promissory note is given by CDCLF to the investor.
