A Community Development Mystery!
|
"Anyone interested in inner city community development, and
especially those who have worked in Albany neighborhoods, will
find this book engaging, entertaining and exciting. Having
worked in and around Sheridan Hollow for the last 22 years, I
found following the story of Jonah Lee and Warren Crow through
the same streets where I have walked both intriguing and fun as
this mystery of community development, murder and community
triumph unfolded." -- Paul

"The Long
Stair draws in the reader in numerous was. As a mystery
it entertains; it explores complex issues of urban
development and community empowerment, and is set in the
familiar landscape of Albany's Sheridan Hollow. This
book is a pleasure to read. I hope it is first in a
series of Arbor Hill/West Hill novels by Kirby White."

The Long Stair
from Sheridan Hollow to Capitol Hill
When Jonah Lee was murdered in the office of the Neighborhood
Housing Association on Albany's north side, the police assumed
the occasion was armed robbery. But when Warren Crow, a
neighborhood resident and affordable housing consultant,
volunteered to help the NHA deal with the loss of its
extraordinary founder and sole employee, he found that Jonah had
been secretly acquiring property for a housing project at the
foot of the long stairway that climbs from the run-down Sheridan
Hollow neighborhood to Capitol Hill. As Crow gradually comes to
understand Jonah's motive for this puzzling project, he finds
himself wanting to finish what Jonah had started- which brings
him face to face with the same deadly forces that had killed
Jonah Lee.
Kirby White is a founder of the
